Christianity

Ethiopia was one of the first regions to accept Christianity in the 4th century. Christianity consists of 63% of the overall population with 44% accounted for by the orthodox church(called tewahido church).

 

Islam

Islam in Ethiopia dates back to 615 when the prophet directed his group of first followers to escape persecution. Ethiopia is also known for having the first Hijra in Islamic history. Islamic religion accounts for 34% of the population.

 

Judaism

The Beta Israel worshippers were an isolated group that have been around since ancient times. They are African Jews who weren’t recognized by the rest of the world for many years. After being accepted by the Israeli government, operation mosses and Solomon were undergone to transport the population to Isreal.
